Individualized guidance and support navigating college and career opportunities
My first career was in nursing education. I loved teaching, both in the hospital and college setting. I am the proud parent of three sons. Each has earned their undergraduate college degrees and are either enrolled or actively pursuing their graduate degrees. When my youngest son left for college, I had the opportunity to work as a grant officer for a highly regarded national scholarship foundation. In this position, I read thousands of high school student application essays. This gave me invaluable insight into what it takes for a student to stand out in an application. It also inspired me to enroll at the University of California, Berkeley where I earned my Certificate in College Admissions and Career Planning. My favorite part of college counseling is coaching my students to write notable essays that highlight their unique story.

"For most students (and their families), the college-admission process can be mystifying and overwhelming. We were beyond fortunate to use the services of Kim Stephens. Kim gently but firmly helped our two to find their individual ways through this process . . . from selection to success!”
- Mary, grandparent
“I looked forward to my weekly check-ins with Kim. She was always so encouraging, positive, and kept me right on track. I finished my common app essay before senior year started and submitted all of my applications by Thanksgiving!”
